Excerpt:
"With the HomeFree System, for example, a wireless network is installed in the house or building. The resident wears a watch that transmits data about the resident to a central monitoring station. A building staff person, or perhaps an adult daughter in another city, knows where the senior is, whether the person is moving about, or wandering at night.
"You would buy a system for your mom and go online and see how well she is doing," said Guy Lerner, chief executive and president of HomeFree Inc., Milwaukee. Lerner said the system is already in use at nursing homes. It's being tested in seniors' homes now and should be available for consumers this year."
